at the Jul. Ferd. Kimich in Deidesheim on the Weinstrasse.

Our winery is centrally located in the charming wine town of Deidesheim, directly on the German Wine Route. This Mediterranean-looking landscape has been shaped by viticulture for centuries and our winery can also look back on a long winemaking tradition.

The first in the long line of winemakers in our family was the winemaker Andreas Kimich. He came to Deidesheim from Alsace and married a rich widow who owned many vineyards. Andreas Kimich brought in the technical knowledge and the winery was "born". This happened in 1758 and is therefore the year the Julius Ferdinand Kimich winery was founded.
The Kimich family ran the estate for five more generations. In 1949 Joachim Arnold married a daughter of Julius Ferd. Kimich and took over the management a few years later.

Today his son Franz and his son Matthias, who represents the eighth generation, run the business. Through careful work in the vineyard and cellar, they produce top-class wines.

In our cozy wine tasting room you have the opportunity to taste and choose the wines. There are also wine tastings with a cellar tour for up to 35 people. We are looking forward to your visit!

We hope you enjoy discovering our wines.

VINEYARD & CELLAR

Today the area under cultivation is around 22 hectares. These are cultivated carefully so that the ecological balance of the beautiful Palatinate landscape is preserved.

Around Deidesheim, where almond trees, chestnuts, figs and kiwis also thrive, mainly white wines are grown, above all Riesling, the "king of white wines". This variety needs a lot of sun and light sandy soils. He finds such conditions excellent in our vineyards in Deidesheim, Forst and Ruppertsberg. About 70% of our cultivation area is planted with Riesling. It is the variety that is most important to us because it provides a variety of taste nuances that connoisseurs rave about.

But also other types of white wine, such as “Gewürztraminer”, “Müller-Thurgau or Rivaner” and the Burgundy varieties “Weißburgunder”, “Grauburgunder” and “Chardonnay” are not neglected. For some years now, the hearts of our red wine lovers have been beating faster: In addition to Pinot Noir and Dornfelder, we also grow Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Syrah. Sparkling wines from our own grapes complete our range. Look forward to a varied tasting of our wines.

Around 120,000 liters of wine are produced in the winery each year. These are bottled as dry wines (80%), semi-dry (15%) and sweet (5%). In the 200 year old wine cellar, the wines are aged in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks.
